|Brenda Stadelmann grew up in the San Fernando Valley and began horseback riding at a young age. Her love of horses grew when she joined the Blue Shadows Mounted Drill Team at age 8. Her experiences of riding, owning horses, and shadowing a veterinarian made her quickly realize that veterinary medicine was her passion.
Throughout her schooling experience she received an associate’s of science degree specializing in pre-veterinary medicine at Pierce College and a bachelor’s of science degree in animal science with a minor in equine science at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Brenda’s educational experiences and volunteer work at Santa Anita racetrack founded an interest in equine reproduction and sports medicine. Recently, she graduated as a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine from Atlantic Veterinary College on Prince Edward Island, Canada. She enjoyed her experience overseas, and is excited to return to Southern California to begin her internship at West Coast Equine.
|Karen Helfrich grew up in Utah's Salt Lake Valley, riding horses and helping her mom train problem horses for friends. She rode in mostly speed and western events, and dabbled in show jumping and cross-country eventing. She especially enjoys camping and packing into the mountains with her horse, and exploring new trails with him.|
While going to undergrad at Utah State University, she worked as a horse trainer before she followed her dream and moved to Minnesota to complete her veterinary medical training. What she loves most about veterinary medicine is the wide variation each day can bring!
